Seminars & Presentations
Seminar Topics
These are seminar topics I have done in the past. However, I am happy to talk on any aspect of home education and unschooling, so contact me if you have a specific need or interest.
1. Learn as you Live – A seminar about the natural learning capacity of people and about how to find a happy balance between directing and trusting the child’s powerful learning abilities. Aspects of the educational philosophies of John Holt and Charlotte Mason are covered, with reference as to how we have applied their thinking in our family.
2. Multiple Intelligence Theory – This seminar covers the very interesting topic of Howard Gardiner’s multiple intelligences with reference to the uniqueness of the individual. It presents some ideas on tailoring education to suit the learner.
3. What the Horses Taught Me – In spite of its quirky title, this seminar is not specifically about horses, although we will look at aspects natural horsemanship. It is about learning, and about how we can hinder or facilitate learning. The seminar includes an account of my thoughts and discoveries about education whilst working with my horse.
4. Homeschooling, An Easy and Effective Way - An interactive seminar in which we explore how learning can be supported and enhanced effectively without strain.
5. Celebrating Motherhood - A seminar about the value and purpose of mothering, what it means to be an excellent mother, and how best to nurture children for optimum growth and development.
6. What I Have Learned in My Years of Home Educating - A seminar about various discoveries and lessons learned over the 24 years of raising and educating my children. Could also be titled 'Things I Wish I'd Known', but Diana Waring has used that title already!
